Our Story

The Ethan Davies Scholarship for Brain Cancer Research was established by Shannon and Christie-Lee Davies in partnership with the Telethon Institute for Child Health Research, after their son Ethan was diagnosed with ependymoma (an aggressive form of brain cancer) in January 2012.
Ethan's Scholarship supports childhood brain cancer research at the Telethon Institute, with a specific focus on ependymoma.

This annual scholarship is offered to a trainee neurosurgeon selected by Dr Nick Gottardo, Head of Brain Tumour Research at the Telethon Institute, and Dr Sharon Lee, Consultant Paediatric Neurosurgeon at Princess Margaret Hospital.

With your support, we hope to accelerate the development and introduction of new and improved treatments to prevent and better treat this devastating cause of illness in children.

You can read more about Ethan's story, and the Scholarship, at www.ethandaviesscholarship.com.au.

UPDATE: because everyone has done so amazingly well with their fundraising to date, and there are still almost two months until the run, we've just upped our team fundraising goal to $7,500.00! Please join our team and commit to raising at least $250.00 for Ethan's Scholarship, or help our existing team members meet their individual goals by donating generously.
